TALENTED youngsters from the Duchess’s Community High School have won the school netball league for the third year running.
The pupils, who were competing at U16 level, completed the hat-trick this season, having taken the title as U14s and U15s previously.
The team – also county champions – has been together since 2009 and reached regional level twice in three years, competing to a high standard against private schools.
Led by two fantastic coaches, Denise Drummond and Anne-Marie Imeson, the team has been able to develop its skills and become successful through regular training in the pupils’ own time.
The youngsters have been led by Holly Mackenley and, for the past year, Kate Imeson, who both made sure the team was always motivated and ready for the matches.
But all good things must come to an end, and the team played its last match together last term.
It was a fitting finish though, as the side beat Cramlington 14-6.
The players were an excellent group and have provided the school with many achievements, as well as just having fun, playing a sport they love.
