THE 10th annual Alnwick Rotary Club Charity Golf Day, which took place at the end of June, raised over £6,000 for charity.

Fifty-four teams of four players competed over the parkland golf course at the Burgham Park Golf & Leisure Club near Felton on June 23.

Courtesy of the owner and from entry fees, raffles, sponsorship and donations, more than £6,000 was raised for Rotary charities.

The major beneficiaries this year are The Great North Air Ambulance, MacMillan Cancer Support and Mary’s Meals (a world-wide campaign to provide free meals in schools where poverty and hunger prevent children from being in education).

Representatives of the three organisations were each presented with a cheque from Rotary Club President Terry Long for £1,000.

He said: “As well as our nominated charities we will not forget local good causes that deserve our assistance.”
