Triple-jumper Emma Pringle has always dreamed of being an Olympian, but the 23-year-old could bag herself a place at the Games in another discipline.

The Alnwick athlete, who currently lives in Newcastle, attended a Phase 2 Talent Assessment for British Weightlifting on Saturday.

The programme is looking to unearth new talent for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Pringle is waiting to see if she makes it through to the next stage. She said: “I really enjoyed it. I would love to compete in the Olympics.”

In the meantime, she is gearing up for an event in Scotland, in her more familiar role as a triple-jumper.
