Rock Cricket Club is appealing for young people aged six plus, both boys and girls, to join its junior cricket programme.
Rock is a small community club based in the tiny village of Rock and has been running a vibrant juniors section for the last few seasons.
“Our juniors have a great time,” said coach Thomas Parkinson. “It’s a wonderful place to play and because we’re a small club we really get to know the kids. Every week we do some training drills and then play a game – everyone gets a bat and a bowl.
“We’d like to invite more juniors, both boys and girls, to join in.
“In time, we’re looking to set up dedicated women’s and girls’ teams, but at the younger ages, the mixed groups work really well. As well as the Saturday mornings, we take part in festivals and games against other clubs.”
Thomas is a fully-qualified ECB Level 2 coach and is assisted by other members who have also taken official coaching training.
The juniors meet every Saturday, 9.30am to 11am, with indoor facilities if it’s wet. The cost is £3 per session.
Please contact Thomas on firstname.lastname@example.org for more details, or go along on a Saturday at 9.30am.
