PLACES are still available for a Northumberland run, dubbed the ‘most beautiful’ in Britain.
The Kielder Marathon takes place on Sunday, October 9, and this year there are additional spaces up for grabs following 2010’s sell-out event. A headline sponsor – Salomon, the athletic outdoor sports company – has been secured for the event, which takes participants on an almost entirely off-road course around northern Europe’s largest man-made lake, Kielder Water.
Plans to hold the marathon this year were unveiled last month by former Olympic athlete and world record holder Steve Cram MBE.
Organisers have more than doubled the field this year and expect to attract runners and outdoor adventure enthusiasts from around the world to the dramatic setting and unique course.
Competitors must be 18 years and over and places are allocated on a first come, first served basis, with no ballot.
Runners who deferred their place last year will be contacted separately.
Cost of entry is £35. To book, visit www.kieldermarathon.com or for inquiries call 0845 155 0236 (Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm).
