Sisters are golden girls

Alnwick Harriers Leila and Talia Thompson competed this weekend in the North East open indoor athletics championships, where they both enjoyed gold medal success.

Leila (U13) first took part in the long jump managing a big personal best jump of 4.20m.

But she saved her best once again for the shot putt. Leila threw a massive personal best of 9.47m to win the gold medal.

She was also awarded best female field event performance, set a new all-time championship record, and achieved a new ranking of number two in the UK!

Talia (U17), not to be outdone by her little sister, also won her competition, throwing the shot 10.20m.
