Roe wins the 63rd Chevy Chase

The 63rd Chevy Chase was held last weekend when runners completed a 20-mile course through the Cheviot Hills in north Northumberland.

This year the event attracted an entry of over 200, 184 of whom reached the finish line.

The winner was Lee Roe of Northumberland Fell Runners in a time of 3.03.39, over three minutes ahead of runner-up Phillip Pearson of the Northern Fell Running Group, who crossed the line in 3.05.44 and was the leading vet over 50. Third was Joseph Cherry of Jesmond Joggers in 3.08.32 and the first female home was Emma Holy of Morpeth Harriers, 17th in 3.31.43.

The event was once organised by Wooler Running Club.
