Alnwick sisters enjoy success with Gateshead Harriers

Two weeks ago they travelled to Middlesbrough for their debuts where they competed in the second north east counties open meeting.

Leila was on first to throw shot and smashed a 34 year-old Gateshead club record at U15 level, throwing a massive 11.07m and then her sister Talia threw another personal best and over 11m to throw 11.14m, both winning their age groups .Leila then threw in the javelin where she achieved another personal best of 32.62m .to come second in the U15s.Last Sunday, Talia travelled to York for the Upper Youth Development League with the Gateshead team. She was on shot put again on a very warm day and it definitely was a good day as she threw another massive PB, achieving 11.64m to come first - this distance is over the qualifying standards for the English Schools’ Championships.
