Alnwick had no competitors on Saturday, but Sunday was a hectic day of racing, which started with the adult sprint distance in the morning where Alnwick had five entries including one of their junior team members, Max Breese, who was competing in one of his first senior events.

Max had a fantastic swim coming in to the first transition in the top ten overall in a field of over 200. A good bike and swift run resulted in a well deserved seventh place in the U19 category.

Gareth Breese, Emma Givens, Sophia Murray John, Frances and Andrew Wilde completed the Alnwick adult line up. All adults raced well with lots of top 10 finishes and some improved times compared to last year.

Erin Givens was first off for Alnwick in the TriStar 1 event. The strong winds and choppy lake didn’t faze Erin one bit and she raced strongly throughout to finish easily in the top half of the field.

Cooper Wilde was the sole Alnwick entry in the T2 event and he had a breakthrough race to take a top 10 finish in a strong field of over 100 T2 athletes.

Chloe Givens, Max Murray John and Finlay Wilde were next off in the T3 race. Chloe showed that her bike and running skills are right up there with her swimming ability and finished in the top half of the field in one of her first open water events.

Max kept up the MJ family tradition of amazing running by setting the fastest run split in his category – no mean feat given the competition! Finlay Wilde took top honours for Alnwick in the T3 category with another top 10 finish.

Ben Murray John was in the last race of the day in the Youth event. No punctures to slow him down this year and Ben had a storming race to take eighth place.

Three members stayed local on Sunday and took part in Ponteland Triathlon. Tony Jackson finished with a time of 1:19:02. JocelynBolam finished in 1:37:03 and Paul Williamson in 1:39:07
