Two young athletes from Northumberland have achieved success this season after only a few months of training.

Toby Parks, from James Calvert Spence College in Amble, and Elliott Moore, from Bedlington, attended a taster session for field events following the Olympics in 2012.

Both boys have competed in shot putt and discus throughout the season, representing their schools, the county and Morpeth Harriers.

They have made huge strides, improving on personal bests at every competition and gaining much-needed club points.

With the help of coach Paul Reed, they will be training hard throughout the winter in order to ensure they are ready to move on to U17 competition next season.

Toby and Elliott have really enjoyed the experience and would like to thank their coach for all of the time and effort he has put in.
