The marauding right back fired in the opener after the ball had squirmed from keeper Andre Mendes’ grasp just after the half hour on Merseyside and then provided the cross for Nic Bollado to put away the second nine minutes after the break.

“We haven’t been playing too badly recently, we’ve just not been holding on to our leads. This week we put in a proper away performance and definitely deserved the three points,” he continued.
Highwaymen boss Craig Lynch handed full debuts to York City youth loanees Bill Marshall and Leon Gibson-Booth as they took the three points at Valerie Park, and Evans feels that the youngsters have fitted in well at the club.

Evans has been an ever-present figure in the amber and black shirt since moving to Craik Park and the experienced defender has slotted in seamlessly alongside the likes of Nathan Buddle, skipper Jeff Henderson, Josh King and Josh Robson in Town’s back line.
“I was playing slightly higher up the pitch yesterday so to get a goal and assist is great,” continued Evans.

Morpeth faced a long trip to Worksop Town on Tuesday evening with Evans emphasising that the side need to push on from the weekend’s success as they continue to climb the NPL Premier table.
“A big effort is needed to come away from Worksop with anything but I’m confident if we play how we did last Saturday we will have a good chance,” he said.
