Alnmouth and Lesbury 1sts went down to a narrow two run defeat when they faced Swalwell in the Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League on Saturday at Derwenthaugh Park.
Swalwell batted first and put on 128-1 in just under 37 overs.
Paul Durnighan was the top score on 60 not out, whilst fellow opener James Welch hit 42.
Edward Brunton was the only Alnmouth bowler to take a wicket.
In reply Paul Straker hit 68 for Alnmouth, but most of the other bats failed to hit double figures and in the end they came up just two runs short at 126 all out in the 50th over.
Guy Saxton was the pick of the Swalwell bowlers with figures of 5-22.
The victory gave home side Swalwell the maximum 20 league points.
Alnmouth 2nds also faced Swalwell, but they fared much better, recording an eight wicket victory at home in the B League.
Swalwell won the toss and elected to bat first and with Roy Gray on 42 and opener Michael Armstrong on 29, they managed to put on 102 all out, the innings lasting 35 overs.
Lukas Robinson had the best spell for Alnmouth with final figures of 5-22 off his eight overs.
Joe Tudor also had a good spell, taking 2-5 off his 4.4 overs.
Opener Peter Robinson then led the Alnmouth challenge with the bat, hitting at unbeaten 47 as they made 103-2, passing their target in the 23rd over.
