Alnmouth and Alnwick won their return match at Belsay on Saturday by a convincing 16-2 scoreline. They raced into a halfway lead of 9-0, putting the result beyond doubt.
Belsay tried hard to rally and some good duels were fought, non more so than a prolonged final doubles match in which Alnmouth and Alnwick overcame a 5-2 deficit to win 7-6.
The overall handicap levels of the visitors was the deciding factor and they remain joint leaders with two matches remaining.
The away fixture with rivals Durham in two weeks time now seems certain to decide the title of Croquet North’s B Division.
