Mitford clinch title

Mitford retained the Alnwick and District Cricket League championship, despite being pushed right to the wire by Wooler.

Both sides finished on 254 points but Mitford clinched the title by virtue of losing one less game.

To top off a thrilling climax to the season, three tons were scored on the final Saturday of the campaign.

Wooler’s Anthony Murray hit 118 not out against Warkworth 2nds, while Alnmouth & Lesbury 2nds’ Callum Batey (146no) and Roger Heal (125no) punished Howick.
