Tillside (218) v Warkworth (154)
Northumberland Cricket League, Premier Division
Tillside maintained their push in the top half of the table with a 64-run victory over Warkworth.
And it was Cameron McGregor who emerged as the star of the show, top-scoring for the Etal side with 73 before going on to claim three wickets with the ball.
Tillside batted first and with Toby Culham (36) grabbing a few runs, they made a steady start.
At 96-5, the innings was in danger of petering out, but McGregor came to the fore and his knock, which came in 96 balls, included ten fours.
Tail-ender Luke Dickson added a useful 22 in 27 balls and this helped the home side post a very respectable 218 in 46 overs.
Richie Carruthers with 4-82 was Warkworth’s main wicket-taker, while Andrew Willis claimed 3-35.
In reply, Warkworth made a steady start and looked as if they were up with the run-rate. Their opening four batsmen were all in double figures, and 48 from Adam Hall helped push the score along, as did a late 21 from Keith Douglas.
But McGregor then mopped up the tail, including the wicket of Hall, and his figures of 3-13 swung the match Tillside’s way.
John Weatherhead and Matthew Whitty claimed two wickets apiece.
