A whopping 18 Harriers descended on Druridge Bay Country Park on Saturday for the Parkrun, an event which was held in perfect conditions with no wind and blue skies.

The headline act was Mark Douglas, putting in a performance which surely makes him an early favourite for the Most Improved Male 2015 gong.

Mark finished a brilliant third of the 126 runners in a 30 second 5k pb of 19.32.

Next home, in his first appearance in a Harriers vest for some time was John Horsley, cantering round to an eighth-place 20.29 finish.

Third Harrier to finish was Gary Cowell, a few places in front of Andy Squires.

For the women, Jackie Prouse was third female finisher overall, achieving the highest WAVA score by a Harrier on the day. Tracey Sample was fourth female home and was first in the female 40 category in 23.18, while Ruth Doctor was a minute further back in a 5k pb.

There was a Parkrun debut for Samantha Fender, as well as pbs for Rhona Lawson, Rachel McCoy and youngster Ella Hemsley.
