Lower-order fight helps Tillside triumph

Tillside firsts are third in the Premier Division after a 10-run win over Blyth ones.

Tillside number eight Iain Sim hit a stunning 79 as his side were 166 all out.

David Ebdale (3-32) and Surj Singh (3-48) were the danger men with the ball.

Decent bowling from Tillside, notably Alan Hindmarsh (4-23) and Craig Robertson (3-24), blunted Blyth and they were all out for 156. Andy Clark’s unbeaten 60 was the highlight.

In Division One, second-placed Warkworth Is kept up the pressure at the top with a seven-wicket win against Tynemouth IIIs.

Tynemouth were all out for 97, with Martin Clark (3-40) the leading wicket-taker. Warkworth easily chased down the total. Stephen Dargue led the way with 34, as the Castle Field outfit posted 98-3.

A fine knock of 122 by Daniel Patterson helped Division Two table-toppers Warenford beat Bomarsund IIs by 79 runs.

In Division Three, leaders Embleton beat Ulgham Village IIs by 10 wickets. John Wilkin (3-10) and Philip Grey (3-13) were the star bowlers for Embleton.

Rock beat Alnmouth & Lesbury-Howick by 83 runs. Rock openers Gary Abdoll (85) and Oliver Page (62) did the damage.

Tillside IIs beat Gateshead Ethnic Minorities IIs by eight wickets. Tillside’s Davy Robertson’s 5-21 was the highlight.

Mark Spoors took 6-27 and Mark Robson scored 58 as Warkworth IIs beat Hebburn IIs by seven wickets.

Wooler beat Monkseaton thirds by 156. Wooler’s Andrew Aitchison (116 not out) and Les Porteous (80) were in fine form with the bat.
