Northumberland Cricket League round-up
In the Premier Division, Tillside I lost by 41 runs at Corbridge I in a low-scoring game in which the joint top-scorer was wides.
Batting first, the home side posted an unspectacular 115, with no batsmen scoring in the 20s, but extras contributing 30.
Liam Hindmarsh took 3-29 for the visitors and there were two wickets apiece for Jake Birkett, Alan Hindmarsh and Cameron McGregor (the latter’s came at the expense of just seven runs).
But in reply, Tillside collapsed and were bowled out for just 71 with Andrew Reed the top-scorer with 23, matching his bowlers’ contribution to the opposition total.
In Division Two, Warenford were 58-run winners away at Cramlington after posting 224-5 in the first innings, in large part thanks to Brian Thompson’s 111.
Ian Patterson added a useful 42 not out down the order.
Cramlington II could only manage 168-9 in reply with opener Harry McCabe the best scorer with 44.
The wickets were shared around the visitors’ bowling attack with two apiece for Tony Potts and Patterson.
In Division Three, Embleton were 10-wicket winners over Howick/Alnmouth & Lesbury after bowling their visitors out for 73 and chasing down the total for the loss of no wickets.
Elsewhere, in the battle of the second teams, Tillside (68-0) came out on top against Warkworth (68).
Wooler (141-3) beat Hebburn II (137) by seven wickets. Les Porteous top-scored with 43.
