North Northumberland Junior Golf League
THIS year’s Junior Field Day was held at Linden Hall and on a blustery day, it was the home clubs juniors who took most of the honours when scores were difficult to put together on a testing course which was in good condition following heavy rain in the last few days.
The annual event invites all juniors who have played in the league for their respective clubs to enter for both gross and nett prizes, along with a team prize for the best three stableford scores on the day and this is then followed by a presentation of trophies for the league and knockout cup, which this year saw Linden Hall do the double.
Best gross was won by Jack Friar (Alnwick) after a countback with 83, just pipping Callum Lawn (Linden Hall) by one shot on the back nine.
Best stableford points was Callum Lawn (Linden Hall) 37pts followed by A McLean (Linden Hall) 36, and in third place Lewis Cochrane (Linden Hall) 34.
As can be seen from the above scores, it was Linden Hall who took the team prize with a total of 107pts, leaving Alnwick behind in second place with 88.
Nearest the pin was won by Sam Basford (Linden Hall) at the seventh and the longest drive at 16th was won by Alex Stevenson (Foxton).
The liason trophy played for each year for the junior organisers was won by Pete Basford (Linden Hall) with 34pts.
Next year’s field day will be at Bamburgh.
A total of 28 juniors took part this year, a little down on last year’s numbers but a success on the day.
Thanks went to Linden Hall for use of the course and also giving everyone great food and service.
