Young golfers took to the fairways at Bamburgh for this year’s junior field day.
The contest was for juniors who have played for their club teams in the Tustain Motors North Northumberland Junior Golf League.
The excellent conditions made scoring very good and best gross of the day was 71 by Alex Stevenson playing this year for Percy Wood.
Two shots behind was another fine golfer, Jack Friar, from Alnwick, with 73.
Best stableford points this year was won by Mike Moult, of Linden Hall, with 39pts, one shot clear of Rothbury’s Adam Dillon with 38pts.
The team event, which is the best three scores added together, was won by Linden Hall with 106pts, one shot behind was Rothbury and a further shot behind was Alnwick.
Nearest the pin on the 8th was won by Elliott Basford (39ft) and the longest drive, which incidently was approx 330yds up hill at the 13th, was won by Alastair Smith.
A total of 28 juniors played on the day along with 10 junior organisers.
The junior organisers play for an annual trophy and this year it was won by a big margin by Steve Dillon with 42pts.
The day was concluded with a presentation of all the prizes, including to Linden Hall who won both the league and the knock out cup this season.
Linden Hall had teed up success in the knock out cup by beating Alnwick 3.5 to 0.5 in the final. Lewis Cochrane beat Joe Henderson, Mike Moult beat Jack Friar, and D McLaughlin beat Alastair Smith. Elliot Basford halved with M Friar.
The junior field day finished with a meal. Thanks to the caterers Paul and Julie and for hosts Bamburgh Golf Club.
The CSSS for the day was 68.
