Junior triathletes are going ‘international’e

Alnwick Tri Juniors went international and headed over the border to compete in the Selkirk Aquathlon.

2015 saw the event’s largest ever field of competitors including six athletes from Alnwick. A very competitive field resulted in some really good performances set by the team including a few personal bests.

The event consisted of a pool swim followed by a grass track run. In Tristar 2 one of the fastest performances in the pool and a strong run saw Max Breese finish eighth in the boys event while Jess Swan produced a good swim to finish 9th in the girls race.

Due to a smaller entry list, TriStar 3 and Youth categories were combined. Rather than deter our younger competitors, this seemed to spur them on and resulted in some great performances and some personal bests being set.

One of the best swimming performances saw Adele Armitage finish 5th in the girls event.

In the boys race Daniel Harrison-Frater came home fourth after producing a very strong run and missing a podium place by 3 seconds while Jack Stewart finished in sixth place following an excellent swim.

Also competing in TriStar 1 was Millie Breese who finished fifth producing a very good performance in a strong field.

This was another successful day for the young Alnwick Junior Triathletes who showed real commitment in the event. Massive thanks to our team of dedicated coaches who continue to get the best performances out of the kids.
