Hotspur stay strong after player appeal

Alnwick Premier Darts League

This week we start in Division B where the Hotspur were able to fulfil their fixture away at Shilbottle B, and not only that but, with the help of some returning players, won the match by 4-3.

Both sides played some great darts and Shilbottle were very unlucky to be on the wrong side of the result but it’s great news for the league that the Hotspur are able to continue playing following an appeal for players by landlord Peter Munro, who said he was delighted at the response and hopes the team can now go from strength to strength.

Shilbottle A continued their pursuit of the division title with a 5-2 win away at Alnwick Working Mens Club C, with reigning league singles champion Ritchie Robson proving his class with a 108 check-out.

The Market Tavern enjoyed a 6-1 home victory over the Oddies A, with the Market enjoying a clean sweep of the singles before Mason and Hayward of the Oddies scored their side’s only point in the doubles to avoid the whitewash.

In the final Division B game of the week Alnwick Working Men’s Club A beat Alnwick Castle Golf Club A 5-2 at home to maintain their clear second-place spot.

In Division A, the Travellers beat the Bottles Boys 6-1, and the John Bull again turned in a powerhouse performance to beat Alnwick Working Men’s Club B 6-1, with Rob Knox of the Bull hitting a 180 but veteran John Dennis not only scored the club’s lone point but finished on 112 into the bargain.

The Bull are the surprise package of the season so far but well worth their second spot in the league with a good squad of players playing some great darts.

It was nip and tuck at the Bottles A who narrowly lost 4-3 to TeamDinga, and with the Oddies B playing in Coventry in the Punch Taverns National Finals their match v the George was postponed.
