Rothbury Bowls Club

Rothbury Bowling Club held an Open Pairs competition on Sunday which saw a full entry from throughout Northumberland.

Although the weather was cloudy and dull for June, the competitors managed to provide an excellent day’s bowling throughout the round-robin and quarter-final stages.

Rothbury succeeded in having an interest in both semi-finals. In the first, D Platt/J Dixon (s) were unsuccessful against G Turner/D Miller (s), of Alnwick BC, going down by 10 shots to 5.

In the second, however, D Bolton/G Donkin (s) managed to triumph over R Aspey/L Woollett (s), of Lynemouth and Ellington BC, by 9 shots to 6.

In the final, home advantage played its part in what was rather a one-sided game, with the Bolton/Donkin partnership winning by 15 shots to 2.

The committee would like to thank all the competitors, Norman Martin for his organisation and the ladies for their wonderful hosting throughout the day.
