Henrietta digs deep for Ultra race

Henrietta Bolton Carter, from Wooler Running Club, completed the 36-mile Coastal Ultra race on Saturday, March 1.

She finished in a time of 5hrs 41mins and was placed third female and 16th overall out of a field of 70.

It was a great course from the Lion Bridge in Alnwick, along the river to Alnmouth, then following the coastal path up to Bamburgh Castle.

The marathon, half and 10k races all ended here but the Ultra route carried on for an extra loop around Budle Bay, before coming back along the back roads towards Seahouses and along the beach to finish at Bamburgh. It was a great race, organised by Endurance Life, run in perfect sunny conditions with no wind and on a scenic but tough course. Runners had to dig deep to the finish line.
