Harriers record pb times at Morpeth

A group of 20 Harriers lined up for the latest of the clubs 2015 Grand Prix fixtures on Wednesday, August, 4 - the Morpeth 10k.

There were the usual excellent battles between closely matched Harriers, lots of pb’s and two prize winners.

A number of Harriers were headline grabbers but as this race doubled as the north east 10k championships we’ll start off with the winner of the silver medal Suzie Barwise-Munro!

Suzie ran a blinder clocking 39.12, a 10k pb, to finish as 2nd female thus taking home the silverware.

Ahead of Suzie were two Harriers, notably 15-year-old Junior Harrier Ben Kelly. Ben also ran a 10k pb to finish 24th of the 288 finishers in a brilliant 36.44. This is the fastest 10k by a Harrier this year!

Just behind him, having his first run in a Harriers’ vest for a number of years was Simon Cook, also notching a pb in the process. Fourth Harrier home was Peter Grey, winning the male 55 category with his 39.35.

Gary Cowell also ran well to finish clear of recent rivals Dave Hindmarsh, Andy Squires and Mark Douglas. Stephen Cowell made his Harriers debut on his 50th birthday and ran a huge 10k pb of 42.55, whilst there were also pb’s for Karen Kelly and Dave Bartrum.

Finally a massive well done to Shelley Coates for taking part in this race just days after her trail marathon exploits in the Cheviots!
