Next male Harrier was injury-plagued Mark Miller followed by Hesus Kidd.

For the women, despite only getting a place in the race a week before, Sarah Syers also scored a pb.

Wooler Running Club

Henrietta Bolton Carter and Claire Bagness took part in the Rat Race Coast to Coast Challenge, a 105-mile race traversing Scotland from Nairn to Glen Coe, on Saturday.

This tough race involved trail running, on and off-road cycling, fell running and kayaking.

The duo finished strongly in a time of 10 hours 53 minutes, placing 54th out of the 170 team and solo competitors who started the one-day event.

To top off their fantastic achievement, they also won the prize for first female team, though they both said journeying across such spectacular and challenging terrain was a reward in itself.

On Sunday, five club members joined the 56,000 other competitors taking part in the Great North Run.

The club put in a strong performance with all five runners achieving half-marathon pbs on the day.

First home in a time of 1.31.21 and placing 60th woman was Pauline Aitchison.

She was closely followed by Simon Curry in 1.35.27, then Shi Shi Ord in 1.39.09, Victoria Curry in 1:59:19 and Claire Riddell, who completed her first GNR in a superb 2.02.12 despite having recent injury setbacks. The club congratulated everyone for a strong weekend.
