An 11-year-old cycling enthusiast is proving to be a rising star in the sport after winning an impressive haul of accolades.

Grace Castle, from Shilbottle, has had a year to remember.

Most recently, the youngster won the U12 Girls North East Cyclo-cross Championship.

The youngster, who is a pupil at Alnwick’s Lindisfarne Middle School, was awarded the trophy at a presentation at Newcastle United’s St James’ Park ground.

It completes a successful spell in the sport for Grace, coming on the back of winning the Regional Mountain Bike Championship and the British Schools National Time Trial Championship during the summer.
