Northumberland hope to take top spot when they host a prestigious golf tournament featuring the top female amateur golfers from the six counties in the north of England at the end of this month.

The five day event at Alnmouth (Foxton Hall) Golf Club starts on Monday, June 28 with a round robin format of daily matches between each of the six counties (Northumberland Yorkshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire and Durham).

Northumberland narrowly lost out when the competition was last played in County Durham in 2019 but hope to triumph this year in what is the centenary of the founding of the Northumberland Ladies County Golf Association.

Spectators (wearing red in support of Northumberland) are very welcome with entry and parking for the event free to all. County Captain Nicky Rose said: “We would love to see lots of spectators out on the course supporting Northumberland and wearing as much red as

possible. It makes for a fantastic spectacle and really gives our players a boost.”
