IN marked contrast to the previous event at Rothbury which was abandoned amid torrential rain, Saturday’s League Open Day at Burgham Park was blessed with glorious weather.
And with the course in excellent condition, competitors had a lot going for them on what is a challenging lay-out.
Best gross of the day was a par 71 by Alnmouth Village’s Richard Campbell, maintaining his fine run of form.
One shot back was Warkworth’s Robert Balmbra with Neil Cairns of Dunstanburgh a further shot away.
Two players from the host club, Gary Hurst and Michael Rowell, headed the nett section with 67 and 68 respectively
