It’s been a brilliant few days for our Cumbrian based runner Gay Eastof as she scooped age category honours at not one, not two, but three races!
Alnwick and District Sports Council award winner Gay won the female 60 category at the Hawkshead 10k, SSAFA Saunter 10k and at the Workington Parkrun.
At Hawkshead on Wednesday, Gay and husband Richard ran together and completed the undulating 10k in 56.47 to finish 160th and 161st.
On Saturday she was first female 60 across the line at Workington in 25.04, 1 second ahead of Richard.
Finally on Sunday she finished the SSAFA Saunter 10k near Cartmel in 54.26, again 1 second ahead of Richard, in 54.26. Superb work!
Also last Wednesday, much closer to home, three Harriers took part in the Elswick Harriers organised Newburn River Run, a 6.5 mile race along the banks of the Tyne from Newburn to Wylam and back.
In-form Andy Squires knocked one second off his time from last year, whilst Dave Bartrum was well over two minutes faster than his 2013 effort!
Results: Andy Squires 45.36; Dave Bartrum 49.00; Dave Coates 53.09.
As well as Gay’s efforts at Workington on Saturday, other Harriers took part in park runs elsewhere.
Closer to home, club secretary Jim Lillico is returning to form posting a fine 19.49 at Druridge Bay. He was fourth overall in a course personal best. Kirsty Steed took part at Durham, whilst Eileen and Derek Guthrie were in action at Newbury.
Druridge Bay: Jim Lillico 19.49, Andy Stephenson 22.35; Claire Miller-Grossett 24.25; Jayne Hately 32.06.
