Gate opens big gap

ALNWICK Gate A continue to dominate Division A with another resounding result, winning 7-0 at the Farriers with Chris Goodwin hitting a 180 into the bargain.

The Bell Bar B managed to move into second place courtesy of a 7-0 result over The George, with Mick Armstrong of the George and Dave Covell of the Bell both contributing 180s in the match.

The John Bull put up some stern resistance to the Blue Bell A in a very tight match that saw Ross Davidson finish superbly on 100 for the Bull but it was the Bell who ran out 4-3 victors.

The Gate B, meanwhile, enjoyed a 5-2 home win over the Oddies B in a great night of darts between these two sides, both of whom enjoyed the match immensely.

In Division B, Alnwick WM Club B went to the top of the table thanks to a 5-2 home win over Alnwick Castle Golf Club A, with Bobby Dodds hitting a 180 for the home side.

The Oddies A fought hard but went down 5-2 at home to Shilbottle Club for whom Wayne Scott had a 104 finish.

The Market Tavern won 4-3 at home to The Hotspur in their mid-table clash that couldn’t have been closer. In the final match of the week, Alnwick Castle Golf Club B also had a very close game but lost 4-3 at home to Alnwick WM Club A.

This round of fixtures saw the teams reach the halfway point of the league.

The Knockout Cup starts tomorrow, with preliminary round action at the Fleece.

Oddies A v Bell Bar B will step up to the oche at 8pm followed by Market Tavern v Oddies B at 9pm.
