Welfare notch up a hat-trick of final places

Bamburgh Castle...2 Red Row Welfare...4

Runciman Cup, Semi-Final

RED Row took the lead early on when a defence-splitting through-ball from Sean Palmer played in Kevin Bell who raced through and slotted past the keeper. (0-1)

They then had numerous chances to double their lead with Matty Graham, Palmer and Bell all going close but Bamburgh capitalised on these missed opportunities when Dalton sprung up at the back post to level the scoring. (1-1)

Bamburgh then went agonisingly close to taking the lead when they saw a good effort creep just wide of the far post, before Red Row struck the bar through the impressive Sean Anderson.

Red Row piled pressure on early in the second half with Bell seeing his shot saved at the near post and Graham having an effort cleared off the line, before Dan Palmer struck the bar from range and forced a good save from the keeper moments later. Not to be deterred by these missed opportunities Bell popped up at the back post to put the visitors into the lead and calm any nerves. (1-2)

It was soon 3-1 when a quick throw from Anderson found Paul Smith who floated a left-foot cross onto the head of Graham who perfectly steered his header into the bottom corner.

Red Row effectively put the game to bed when Jack Small fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the box (1-4) but there was still time for Bamburgh to claim a late consolation when a long punt found Johnny Love who finished beautifully. (2-4)

This victory makes it three finals for Red Row who are also still a point clear at the top of the table with a game in hand going into their last three games.
