Cramlington Girls 6 Longhoughton Ladies 1
Anticipation was high as Longhoughton made the away trip to Cramlington.
The hosts started brightly, dominating the tempo of the game and showing skill as an experienced team. However, with the defence being rallied at the back by Taylor, Longhoughton knuckled down and rarely gave the opposition time on the ball. Cramlington punished a brief lack in Longhoughton’s concentration and scored a quick goal (1-0).
Rangers’ keeper Purvis later sustained a hand injury through a rash Cramlington challenge. This resulted in her moving into an outfield position. Sammy Ryder stepped up to make her goalkeeping debut.
Rangers were unlucky to concede another goal on the stroke of half time (2-0).
The second half started with Cramlington attacking at every opportunity and managing to put a further four goals into the Rangers’ net (6-0).
Longhoughton’s efforts were rewarded with a consolation goal from captain Jenny Graham, but it was well deserved (6-1).
