Pin Point Recruitment Northern Alliance, Division One

AMBLE played host to Newcastle University for this midweek Division One fixture and they nearly took the lead in the second minute when Ross Gair shot just wide of the post.

The score at half time was 0-0.

After the interval, Amble started the brightest and were creating some very good chances and took the lead in the 58th minute after some very good approach play up the right. An excellent cross by Sean Taylor found Josh Hay to head home at the far post.

Amble scored again in the 65th minute, once more after some good play up the right, this time by Ross Gair, who crossed for Josh Hay to fire home his second.

The visitors came more into the game, putting the home defence under a bit of pressure and were awarded a penalty in the 80th minute when an Amble defender was accused of handling in the box, Andrew Hartly stepped up to convert.

However, in the last eight minutes, Amble had three good chances but they could just not put them away and the score at full-time was 2-1 to Amble for another good all-round team performance to take them to third in the league.
