United move four points clear at the top

Amble Utd...6 Forest Hall...1

HIGH-flying Amble entertained Forest Hall in their first game at home since September 24.

And they took the lead in the eighth minute when Sean Taylor fired home a free-kick from 20 yards. They continued to keep up the pressure on the visitors’ defence and went two up in the 19th minute when Ross Gair fired home a very good shot.

Amble took advantage of the very strong wind and made the visitors’ keeper work very hard.

Forest Hall tried to get into the game but found the Amble back four very hard to break down and the score at half-time remained 2-0 to Amble.

After the interval, the visitors took advantage of the very strong wind and got a goal back in the 57th minute, when Josh Gow found the net with a good shot.

Amble went 3-1 up when Adam Shanks crossed after some good approach play up the right for Ross Gair to volley home for his second.

After this, Amble played the better football and very nearly increased their lead in the 70th minute when a good effort by Ross Gair was tipped around the post by the visitors’ keeper Matthew Plows.

In the 85th minute, Amble did increase their lead when Adam Shanks outpaced Forest Hall’s defence and fired home a very good shot.

Amble added another two goals in the 91st minute when Darren Riddell fired home, and then in the 92nd minute when Josh Hay found the bottom right-hand corner of the net with a good effort to make the final score 6-1 to Amble.

Another very good all-round team performance extended their lead at the top of the league to four points with a game in hand.
