United hit East End for six


AMBLE played hosts to Newcastle East End for this league Division One match.

The visitors started the brightest and put the Amble defence under a bit of pressure, but after this Amble came more into the game and took the lead in the 14th minute following a free-kick from the left by Sean Taylor. Derek Atwell was at the far post to head home.

Amble continued to play some good football and were creating some excellent chances, but could not put them away.

The visitors almost grabbed an equaliser in the 30th minute, when a good shot by Mark Winton was very well saved by Andrew Patterson in the Amble goal.

Amble went two up in the 42nd minute after a good run down the right by Josh Hay.

His square ball found Brett Robertson to fire home.

In the 44th minute, Sean Taylor put a good ball through for Josh Hay to run on and slot home to make the score at half-time 3-0 to Amble.

After the interval, Amble went four up in the 60th minute when Taylor put over a good ball for Hay to volley home for his second.

The visitors nearly got a goal back when they made a good run down the middle and Mark Watson shot very well but Andrew Patterson pulled off another very good save in the 65th minute.

Amble went five up when an excellent free-kick from 20 yards by Taylor arrowed into the top right corner of the net, giving the visitors’ keeper Dean Knighton no chance.

In the 82nd minute, Hay fired in after a good solo run for his hat-trick, making the final score 6-0.

It was another very good all-round team performance and kept them fifth in the league.
