U13s blow Ryton right away

Ryton FC...1

Longhoughton Rangers...6

RANGERS made the long trip to High Spen and came away with all three points.

The windy conditions meant that this was not going to be a day for pretty football.

Rangers won the toss and elected to kick down hill and with the wind in their backs. The conditions dictated that the visitors would need to put some daylight between the two teams.

It took Rangers only two minutes to find the net after Turnbull slotted the ball to Coxford and, with only the keeper to beat, fired home confidently.

Ryton battled defiantly but never threatened the visitors keeper.

Rangers continued to press forward and Coxford scored a second. Pusey made it three using the wind to his advantage scoring a fine goal struck from outside the box and leaving the keeper no chance.

Rangers went in at half-time four goals to the good after Coxford cooly despatched a penalty just before half-time to complete his hat-trick.

With Rangers kicking up the steep incline with the wind in their faces, they knew it was going to be a defensive half. Ryton were pushing hard and were becoming frustrated with shots going wide and the forwards being on different wavelengths.

The home side came close after hitting the post and the bar in quick succession and finally scored midway through the second half.

Against the run of play Rangers made a foray into the Ryton half and McKewan made it 5-1 to put the game out of reach.

Coxford completed the rout with a great angled finish.

Another great team performance to make it four straight league wins.
