Any Albion Sports fans who come up for the FA Vase clash with Alnwick Town on Saturday are sure to have a nice memento to take home with them.
The Northumbrians’ matchday programme has taken the Northern League, Division Two title in the Soccer Club Swap Shop programme awards for the 2012/13 season.
And not only did the St James’ Park side take first place out of 11 clubs in their division, but they also came in the top 50 of all the non-league clubs, slotting in at number 47.
This was no mean feat, bearing in mind that 1,065 clubs entered programmes into the 20th edition of the annual competition.
Michael Cook, who put the programme together for Alnwick Town, said: “It was a bit of a surprise when the award came through in the post, considering that we hadn’t even come in the top 10 for the Northern League programme awards.
“It’s nice to get a bit of recognition though for some of the work that goes on behind the scenes.
“It made all of the hours put in worthwhile.
“I’ll definitely be entering again this season to try to repeat the achievement.”
