Alnwick Town’s habit of leaking goals at a formidable rate continued this afternoon as they were thrashed 6-1 at Willington.
Going into today’s Northern League, Division Two clash, the hosts sat just one place and one point above Town, but today’s scoreline didn’t suggest such a small margin between the two sides.
The black ‘n’ whites were three down at half-time and conceded another three after the interval, although they did notch one of their own.
It comes on the back of last Saturday’s disappointing 4-4 draw with lowly Esh Winning, who grabbed a share of the points with a last-gasp winner.
And the number of goals being conceded by the St James’ Park side will continue to be a major concern for the management. So far this season, Alnwick have conceded 76 goals in 22 games in the league, but have also scored 47.
