Teams prepare for start of the season

Shilbottle Colliery Welfare, Alnwick Town U14s and Longhoughton Rangers YFC are preparing for the up-coming season with practice sessions and trials kicking-off.

Shilbottle will again be running two teams in the North Northumberland League during the forthcoming campaign.

Both teams will be under new management and new players will be made welcome.

Training commences tonight at 7pm at the Welfare Ground and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter until the start of the season proper.

Longhoughton Rangers will be holding an open trials weekend at Westfield Park on Saturday, July 14, and Sunday, July 15, as well as goalkeeping sessions for all ages on Saturday, July 28.

Trials are being held for U14 boys (call Mark Turnbull, 07761 659299) and U16 boys (call Dave Mitch, 07730 568260), as well as U11 and U13 girls (call Jimmy Somerville, 07522 706185) and U14 and U16 girls (call Neil Parry, 07767 099439).

Players should bring appropriate outdoor clothing, trainers/moulded blades (no metal studs) and shin pads, as well as a drink.

Alnwick Town U14s will be holding a signing-on and training session at the town’s Greensfield playing fields on Sunday, at 10.30am.
