Tables turned on Woodhorn

BOTTOM club Blackthorn Rovers continued their dismal run without a win, going down 3-0 at home to fourth-placed Woodhorn Lane FC, in Division One.

The only other game in the division this weekend, a mid-table clash between Red Row Brick Club and Stobswood Welfare, was settled by the odd goal in five, giving away team Stobswood Welfare the three points.

In Division Two, Alnmouth Argyle broke their 12-game losing streak, stunning River Coquet FC with a 2-1 away win, while second-bottom Sporting Club of Morpeth lost 5-7 at home to Ashington Hirst Industrial in a 12-goal thriller.

There were also away wins for Village Inn Longframlington at Morpeth Chantry (3-1) and top club Bedlington Barrington Arms at Amble Dock Hotel (6-1).

Home side Bedlington Station Railway eventually went through to the semi-final of the Challenge Cup, winning on penalties against Bomersund SC after the teams could not be separated at 2-2.

Choppington Travellers Rest made it through at the expense of Amble Pier 81 (3-1) while Pegswood Ex demolished Felton FC 13-2 at home.

In the first semi-final of the ACS Dobfar Cup, North End Trap Broomhill edged through as 2-1 winners away at Newbiggin Bankhouse.
