Still two short of league victory

Wallington...2 Amble Utd...2

AMBLE travelled to Wallington in this League Division One match, and only wanted three points to win the league.

Amble started the brightest, playing some good attacking football and had one or two chances to take the lead, and did so in the 17th minute when a good run down the left by Sean Taylor, who cut in and fired an excellent right foot, into the to right hand corner of the net giving the home keeper Chris Straker no chance.

After this the game was going from end-to-end, with both teams having one or two chances.

However, both keepers were pulling off some very good saves, but the score at half-time was 1-0 to Amble.

After the interval it was Amble who got the game underway, however it was the home side who got a goal back in the 58th minute when Ben Fenwick hit a free-kick from 25 yards which took a wicked deflection to beat Andrew Patterson in the Amble goal for their equaliser.

After this Amble raised their game and were creating some very good chances and went ahead in the 68th minute when a corner from the right, Josh Hay headed home with an excellent header.

Amble continued to press forward and had some very good chances to kill off the game.

But in the 88th minute Wallington got a free-kick once again 25 yards out which Ben Fenwick fired in which the unfortunate Josh Hay managed to head home for an own gaol, and make the final score 2-2, leaving Amble still requiring two points to win the league.
