Second-half onslaught takes Juniors through

Alnwick U11 2 Cramlington Jrs U11 3

U11 League Cup

Alnwick were the unlucky ones on Sunday in a bitterly cold affair.

The home side started the stronger and bossed the first half with good possession and passing.

Joe Aynsley scored a super opener on 21 minutes when put clear by the impressive Max Paige (1-0).

Alnwick quickly doubled their lead on 28 minutes when Ross Edwards fired home after a neat flick-header by Harry Felton (2-0). Alnwick ended the half dominating play.

The second half brought about a new Cramlington side.

Within 10 minutes, they pulled a goal back with a long-range effort from the right (2-1).

Alnwick tried in vain to get a third but efforts from Felton and Aynsley could not penetrate the Cramlington goal.

With 10 minutes remaining, Alnwick failed to clear their lines and Cramlington levelled it (2-2).

Then, with only four minutes left on the clock, they were awarded a penalty which was duly dispatched.

Cramlington were humble in victory, knowing they had scraped through.
