Craster Rovers...7 Amble St Cuthbert...0

North Northumberland League, Division Two

CRASTER made two changes for this tie against Division Two whipping boys Amble St Cuthbert, with Barry Armstrong moving to centre-back and the recalled Mark Jones starting upfront.

Craster were quick out of the blocks, putting pressure on from the first minute with Tom Parker and David Davidson taking control of the midfield. In the fourth minute, Lee Charlton fed the ball through the Amble defence for Jones to hit a first-time shot (1-0).

It took until the 18th minute for Craster to double the score with D Hogg this time crossing low from the right. The Amble keeper did well to push the ball out but it dropped to T Parker, who rifled in from 10 yards (2-0).

In the 25th minute, the unlucky Jones limped off, to be replaced by Andy Stanwix. Tom Parker was unlucky on 26 minutes when he curled a free-kick around the Amble wall onto the far post and out for a goal-kick.

Amble had a good chance in the 32nd minute to pull one back, with a good shot from 20 yards, Nicky Smart saving well down to his right. The first half played out to much the same script with three good chances falling to D Hogg, one of them cleared off the line and Davidson putting Charlton through, only to be let down by a poor first touch. Half-time: 2-0.

It took just three minutes of the second half for the scoring to continue with a D Hogg shot saved and D Davidson calmly flicking the rebound past the keeper (3-0).

Craster kept on the pressure, with a string of corners and chances falling to D Hogg, D Davidson and J Clarke. Andy Stanwix added a fourth goal in the 65th minute, a powerful drive from 10 yards (4-0).

On 82 minutes, the creative Davidson slid a long pass through the Amble defence, James Hedley covered a lot of ground to collect it before the on-rushing keeper to slot in (5-0). In the 85th minute, T Parker knocked the ball down in the box to A Stanwix, who doubled his tally with a cool finish (6-0).

David Davidson scored the goal of the game on 87 minutes when he spotted the Amble keeper had gone walkabout and chipped in from 35 yards (7-0). A comfortable win for Craster but they could end up cursing the missed chances come the end of the season.
