Rothbury miss out on cup final place

Rothbury missed out on a place in the final of the Northern Alliance League Combination Cup when they were beaten in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Rothbury had topped their group and were drawn at home against Prudhoe Youth Club Seniors in the last four.

Unfortunately, it was not their day and they went down to a 4-0 defeat, Prudhoe now going on to meet Cramlington United in the final.

It was semi-final day in all the Alliance end of season cup competitions and the full list of results were:

Challenge Cup SF – Whitley Bay Reserves 1 Newcastle Blue Star 1 (Whitley Bay win 3-0 on pens). Burradon & New Fordley v Blyth Town to be played Sat, May 8.

Combination Cup SF – Rothbury 0 Prudhoe Youth Club Seniors 4; Hebburn Town U23s 1 Cramlington United 2.

Amateur Cup SF – Newcastle Independent 1 Newcastle University A 0; Ashington Reserves 2 Cramlington Town 3.

Cowey Cup SF – Heaton Stannington A 2 Newcastle East End Reserves 0; Red House Farm 2 Cullercoats Reserves 3.

NFA Benevolent Bowl SF – AFC Killingworth 4 Newcastle Chemfica 3; Burradon & New Fordley 1 Seaton Delaval 1 (New Fordley win 3-1 on pens).

Meanwhile, Northern Alliance side Morpeth Town Reserves are looking for a new manager following the resignation of Nicky Jewitt last week. Earlier, the club revealed they were also looking for a new assistant manager and coach.
