League-leading Gateshead Leam Rangers took a huge step towards winning the Northern Alliance Bay Plastics Second Division title with a win at rivals Shilbottle CW today.
David Lucas grabbed the only goal of the game to stretch the Rangers lead at the top to 10 points – but the second-placed Colliers have three games in hand.
Callum McAllister shot Seaton Burn in front against Alnwick Town Reserves in the first half. Chris Carr added a second in the 72nd minute and a late double from Ryan Spragg saw Burn to a 4-0 win.
Elsewhere in the division, a Dale Johnson own goal and a Callum Bodzinski strike in the first half saw Longbenton win at Willington Quay Saints, though the Bulls were made to sweat when Glen Johnson pulled one back.
High Howdon dented Lindisfarne Custom Planet’s promotion hopes with goals from Declan King (two) and Chris Marshall. Adam McCulloch netted a consolation.
Reece Chapman shot West Allotment Celtic A ahead against Swalwell in the 75th minute, but late goals in the last 10 minutes from Chris Grant, Matt Neve and Danny Igo gave Swalwell the points.
Shaun Young hit a hat-trick in Grainger Park’s success against Forest Hall. Andrew Davidson added the other and Jamie Anderson replied.
Liam Roberts bagged a brace in Whitburn’s victory over Wideopen. An own goal completed the tally while Jared Dowd scored at the other end.
Second-half efforts from Cole Dixon and Juste Akani gave Newcastle Benfield Reserves a win at Cramlington United.
Nike Division One
Bottom-club Wooler continue to struggle as they lost 3-1 against Newcastle Chemfica Independent. Fraser Tait netted for Wooler, but goals from Liam Heenan, Tommy Bainbridge and Alex McKetterick gave the visitors the points.
Second-half strikes from Michael Hogg, John Bone and Ross Muter gave AFC Newbiggin the points against Hexham but Percy Main remain 13 points clear at the top. The Seasiders have two games in hand.
Wallsend Boys Club’s Jordan Robertson netted an early winner at Cramlington Town and Newcastle Uni went fourth with goals from Reece Huntley (two), Charlie Rew and an own goal in their 4-3 victory over Cullercoats and a Daniel Carr brace saw Blyth Isabella successful at New Fordley.
Peter Scott, Chris Hibbit and Gary Cook were Ponteland United’s scorers against Bohemians and Lee Cuthbertson struck twice in Birtley Saint Joseph’s win over Bedlington Terriers Reserves. Tony Smith, Martin Guy and Kevin Wright were also on the scoresheet with Ryan Cockburn the Terriers scorer.
Newcastle Building Society Premier Division
Blyth Town maintained a bumper 19-point lead at the top of the table as David Atkinson bagged a brace at Rutherford. Scott Pocklington was also on target before Ross Nicholson pulled one back from the penalty spot.
Northbank’s Ashley Pattinson was also successful from the spot against Whitley Bay A, but missed a second penalty in the closing moments. The game was, however, already won.
Craig Boyle shot North Shields Athletic ahead at Carlisle City but the Cumbrians hit back with a Marc Shiel hat-trick and a James Earl effort and goals in each half from Kevin Westphal and Stephen Hogg saw Shankhouse win at Wallington.
Matty Hayton bagged a brace in Walker Central’s victory over Seaton Delaval and goals from Simon Patterson and Jack Pinchen gave Killingworth Station three points against Whickham Sporting.
Dylan Armstrong and Dave Brown were Ashington Colliers’ hit-men against Red House Farm who hit back twice through an own goal and a Paul Parker effort to level before Michael Armstrong slotted in a late winner to round off an exciting clash.
