Pont cruise into the third round with a perfect nine

Ponteland United 9 Fawdon Park 0 Northumberland FA Minor Cup, Round Two

In awful conditions, United had an easy passage through to the third round of the Ideal Stelrad NFA Minor Cup with an emphatic win over lower-league opponents Fawdon Park Sports Development.

United were 5-0 up and cruising after 30 minutes with a perfect hat-trick from Liam Anderson on five, 12 and 30 minutes and goals from Stephen Rae, seven minutes, and Dan Wright, 20 minutes.

Andrew Davidson made it six on 65 minutes before substitute Craig Cook celebrated with his own hat-trick on 68, 80 and 89 minutes.

Considering the visitors’ man-of-the-match was their keeper Ryan Wakeman and the fact that United also missed a boat-load of chances, the scoreline could well have been doubled without any stretch of imagination.

Ponteland are back in league action on Saturday as they travel to lowly Willington QS, who have one just once in the league this term.
