Northern Football Alliance round-up (Saturday, November 30, 2013)


Whitley Bay A’s Michael Clement, Connor Johnson and Ryan Redford netted in the first half at Seaton Delaval as they maintained a four-point advantage at the top. Daniel Young pulled one back.

Wallington leapfrogged Blyth Town into second as they came back from trailing to a Chris Lyle header to take the points, with goals from Justin Millican and a brace from Sam Walton – one coming from the penalty spot.

Walker Central kept pace with a goal in each half at Percy Main from George Weatherly and Anthony Studholme while Stocksfield’s Gavin Watt and a late Declan Stokle strike gave them victory at Hebburn Reyrolle, who had levelled through Adam Finch.

Paul Dunn netted a hat-trick in the Shankhouse success at Rutherford. Chris Rue and Niall Younger got the others.

Michael Turner (two), Lee Donnelly and Chris Tate fired in for Killingworth Station against Ashington Colliers, who struck courtesy of Darren Riddell, Matty Graham and Matthew Turner.

Goals from Martin Soulsby and Paul Newton Eddy handed Red House Farm the win at Carlisle City, who pulled one back late on through Rob McCartney.

Ricky James and Josh Calvert were the Northbank targetmen at Wallsend Town, who had Gav Jones on the scoresheet.


Newcastle Chemfica went top of the division with goals from Garrick Murphy Collins (two), Dean Laycock, Steve McLaughlin and an own-goal as they stunned promotion rivals North Shields Athletic.

Previous leaders Cramlington Town crashed to a surprise defeat at Hexham, who had Liam Heenan (two) and Kurtis Harvey crash home.

Lee Waugh put New Fordley ahead from the penalty spot, but Cullercoats levelled with a penalty from Luke Ferguson. With just two minutes left, New Fordley’s Stephen Bourne stepped up and made no mistake with a third spot-kick to win it.

Ponteland United’s Craig Cook and Stephen Rae put them in charge against Newcastle Uni but the Students hit back through Joe Watson and a stoppage-time leveller from Charlie Pilkington.

Tavis Couling struck twice in Bohs win over Willington Quay Saints. Lois O’Donoghue, Daniel Ure and Marcus Burn got the others with Kane Chirnside (two) and an own-goal making up Saints’ tally.

Lee Cuthbertson (two), Chris Morris and Shaun Todhunter netted for Birtley Saint Joseph’s at Heddon, who had Dan Robinson chalk one up, while Bedlington Terriers Reserves beat Wooler 3-0.


Chris Sword struck twice for division leaders Longbenton, but visitors Seaton Burn hit two in reply to take a point.

AFC Newbiggin moved level on points as Ross Muter, Jonathon McEnaney, Gary Bailes and Simon Wilson fired in at Swalwell. Simon Young pulled one back.

Whitburn Athletic beat Wallsend Boys’ Club with a double from Daniel Wilson and a Jonathon Doyle strike, while Blyth Isabella romped to a 7-3 win at Chopwell. Derek Waters, Rowland Lee and Daniel Owen struck for the stunned hosts.

Andy Carr fired Cramlington United ahead against Alnwick Town but Ryan Taylor levelled.

Goals from Andy Gowing, Jordan Jones, Dwayne Murray and Robert Jefferson ensured three points for Grainger Park at West Allotment Celtic A, who replied through Ben Jackson.

Early goals from Mark Ord, Ashley Robinson and Tommy-Lee Bainbridge gave Wideopen a dream start against High Howdon.


Newcastle Benfield Reserves went into round four of the Archers of Blyth George Dobbins League Cup with goals from William Walker, Aiden Bell, Ben Jefferson and James Carr against Gateshead Leam Rangers, who hit back through Lee Turnbull (two) and Jonny Dobson.


Liam Henderson, Robbie Frame and Alan Pegram were Redheugh’s hit-men in a good win over Coxhoe Athletic in the Durham FA Trophy, leaving them the only Alliance side left in the competition.
