Shilbottle CW kept up the pressure at the top of the second division this afternoon with a 3-1 win over High Howdon Social Club.

Josh Hay, Brad McClelland and Matthew Graham crashed in for the third-placed Colliers, who are seven points behind league-leaders Gateshead Leam Rangers, but have four games in-hand. Full match report.

The table-toppers stayed top thanks to a 3-0 victory over Longbenton, courtesy of goals by Liam Barnett, James Fenwick and Ryan Gibson.

Meanwhile, Alnwick Town Reserves were just seconds from victory at Willington Quay Saints when Dale Johnson hit a late leveller. Saints went in front through Liam Taylor but a Dominic Schievetta penalty and a Ryan Taylor double looked to have earned Town three points. But Glen Johnson pulled one back with an 83rd-minute penalty before Johnson shot home in the 90th minute.

Second-placed Lindisfarne Custom Planet edged out Newcastle Benfield Reserves with goals from Ryan Smith, Micky Hedley and a Pete Lowery penalty. Mikel Thompson (penalty) and Sam Burby replied while Grainger Park’s Shaun Young (two), Robert Jefferson and Michael Rankin gave them a narrow victory over Cramlington United, who had led through Niall Younger (two) and Mark Nicholson.

Wideopen celebrated as Stephen Dodds and Gavin Wood netted in their surprise win at Forest Hall, with Matt Dawson replying, and Adam Bravey and Daniel Wilson were on the scoresheet for Whitburn Athletic at Swalwell.

An Aldair Batista strike and an own-goal gave Seaton Burn the points at West Allotment Celtic A. Ben Jackson pulled one back.

Andrew Welsh, Dean Ellis and Keenan Nellis (penalty) scored for Bedlington Terriers Reserves as they gave AFC Newbiggin a fright, but Kris Allington and John Bone both hit doubles, with Richie Morris also finding the net for the Seasiders.

Blyth Town’s six-month winning run continued as Connor Andrews struck twice at North Shields Athletic. Anth Moran, David Robinson and Daniel Beresford also chalked up during the victory which saw Daniel Capewell and Craig Boyle hit replies.

Quick-fire goals from Kevin Westphal and Dan Chambers for Shankhouse cancelled out Steve Brown’s double for Red House Farm but the hosts won it when Chris Mann curled in late on.

Carlisle City sub Ryan Errington also hit a late winner against Rutherford after Jamie Heath’s opener was cancelled out by Ricky Tanoh and goals late in each half from Connor Johnson and Tom Potter gave Whitley Bay A a win at Ashington Colliers.

Scott Robson and Liam Henderson netted in the second half for Whickham SC as they beat Seaton Delaval and five goals shared between Greg Reardon, Alex Slack, Ben Fenwick, Matty Blackith and Adam Whitehead saw Wallington to a 5-1 success against Hebburn Reyrolle.

Mark McDonnell opened for Walker Central but an own goal earned Northbank a share of the spoils.
