Liam Callaghan’s first-half brace helped Killingworth Sporting to a 4-0 success at Ponteland United on Saturday, writes Jon Tait.
Franc Di Pietro and Elliott Dixon added to the tally after the break as Sporting went up to second.
They are level on points with Shankhouse, who had Steven Thornton and Cristen Priest on target in a 2-0 success at Stocksfield.
Joe Moscrop shot Ashington Colliers ahead at Walker Central to round off a good move and, although Phillip Davidson levelled, David Brown netted the Colliers’ winner from a corner.
Tijan Kah opened for Percy Main against Whitley Bay A, with Sean Jobson flashing in a low shot to equalise. Gavin Hattrick gave the Seahorses the lead but they were pegged back when Tom Leuemberger levelled.
Murton and Rutherford also shared the spoils, with Murton netting twice in the last 10 minutes to salvage a point. Martin Peace shot them ahead but goals from Shaun Todhunter, Alv Rasmussen and Aaron Sherriff looked to have put Rutherford in control. Luke Wallace pulled one back on 80 minutes and Micky Robson levelled five minutes later.
CARLISLE City went through in the Kicks Leisure Challenge Cup at Blyth Town as Tom Lucock grabbed an extra-time winner.
Andy Rogerson took just 20 seconds to fire the Sky Blues ahead and although Daniel Beresford levelled, it looked like Lucock had won it when he scored in the 89th minute. But two minutes into stoppage-time Lee Richardson grabbed a sensational equaliser. Lucock got the winner with eight minutes of extra-time to go.
Bern Telford stuck twice for Heaton Stannington as they also went through at Hebburn Reyrolle. Joe Wear, Gary Yates and Gary Dixon also netted with Liam Clark, Ray Oshin and an own-goal completing the Reyrolle scoring.
MORPETH Sporting pulled away from the Division One danger zone with a 4-0 win at Newcastle Chemfica. Rob Haney bagged a brace with Michael Starkie and Chris Thompson also netting.
BOHEMIANS romped into Round Three of the Pin Point Recruitment Combination Cup as they hit Cramlington Town for six. Darren Campbell got two and Matty Atkin, Steven Leonard, Dan Child and Joe Collins also scored, while Charley Storey got a consolation.
Amble United’s Sean Taylor and Greg Dance were on target as they went through at Heddon and goals from Newcastle University’s Robert Chips, Johnny Randles and Daniel Clements saw them into the next round at Cullercoats.
Wallsend Town’s Dekka Graham hit four in a nine-goal thriller with Wallington. Steve Matthews got Town’s other with Ashley MacAlpine (2), Dan Thompson and Josh Gilmartin firing home for the Greens.
Cramlington United’s smiles were so wide that you’d think that they’d scored with Beyonce and had a winning lottery ticket in their pocket as they picked up their first point in 10 attempts.
It’s been a tough start to the season for United and goals from Dean Blackburn, Kane Lackenby and an own-goal saw them draw 3-3 with Hexham. Alistair Stobbs, Liam Heenan and Paul McClean replied.
Alston hit six at North Shields Athletic, with Johnny Wright getting four of them. Ollie Cartwright and Dan Parker got the others, with Dan Walton and Josh McGirr replying.
Goals from Neil Thorley, Mark Worrall and Simon Robinson saw Northbank dismiss New Fordley’s challenge.
Dylan Adamson’s opener for Wallsend Boys Club was cancelled out by Lewis Marshall of Wideopen.
BEDLINGTON Terriers Reserves had Adam Ryder, Ronnie Foreman and Dylan Williamson stretch the net against Alnwick Town Reserves in the Pin Point Recruitment Amateur Cup and they are joined in Round Three by Harton & Westoe.
David Bulman shot Harton ahead at Swalwell and Steve Graham added a second from the penalty-spot. Chris Smith pulled one back late on.
Willington Quay Saints pulled off a surprise as they beat leaders Red House Farm 7-6 on penalties.
An exciting game ended 3-3, with Kane Chirnside (2) and Noel Clynch scoring for Saints and Mark Sheeran (2) and Micky Armstrong the Red House scorers.
Ironically, it was Steven King who avoided a Hallowe’en horror show as he fired in the winning penalty.
